N Kalyan Raman's translation of the work of contemporary Tamil poets has been published widely in books, anthologies and journals in India and abroad. Some of the leading poets he has translated include: Salma, Perundevi, Kutti Revathi, Malathi Maithri, Sukirtharani, ND Rajkumar, M Yuvan and Srivalli. His translation of poetry by women poets from Eelam and Tamil Nadu was published as an anthology, Tamil Women’s Poetry: A Current of Contemporary Voices (2009) in Sahitya Akademi’s Indian Literature.
